Register as an Auction Participant in the Capacity Auction
This page provides an overview of the processes, tasks and forms required to register as an Auction Participant in the day-ahead Capacity Auction.
Category and classification
To confirm you are registering as a participant in the correct category, visit Gas Market Participants.
The Capacity Auction registration application form must be completed to register as an Auction Participant in the day-ahead Capacity Auction.
The form provides further details about what is required for registration and should be read in conjunction with the Capacity Transfer and Auction Procedures.
Fees and charges
Participants must pay a fee to register; these are outlined in the latest Gas markets fee schedule.
These documents need to be supplied either with your application form, or beforehand, as they support your application for registration in PCT.
To participate in the Capacity Auction members must complete two original signed copies of the auction agreement with their application. These form part of the Capacity Transfer and Auction Procedures.
An Agent Participant may apply to AEMO using this template to make changes to Appointing Participants:
- Include an additional person as an Appointing Participant for the agent participant, or
- Remove an Appointing Participant for the Agent Participant.
The registration process
Complete the registration application form and all required supporting documents.

On receipt of your application, AEMO will send an invoice for the payment of your registration fees by electronic funds transfer.
AEMO reviews application
AEMO reviews the application and responds to you within five business days of receipt of the application.
AEMO may request additional information or clarification of the information contained in the application. If such a request is made, you must supply the additional information or clarification within 15 business days of the request.
AEMO assessment and determination
Once AEMO receives a complete application and the additional information, AEMO must within 15 business days, determine if the application is to be approved for registration. AEMO will notify you of our determination and, if AEMO rejects your application, the reasons why.
