WEM Electricity Statement of Opportunities

The Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO) is prepared annually and provides forecasts and analysis of peak demand and operational consumption in the South West interconnected system (SWIS) for the next 10 years. These forecasts are used to determine the Reserve Capacity Requirement (RCR), the amount of generation and DSM capacity required to meet the forecast demand for the relevant Reserve Capacity Cycle.

The ESOO also provides information on:

  • Generation and Demand Side Management (DSM) capacity operating in the SWIS
  • Planned capacity, including expansions and new Facilities under construction.
  • Capacity requirements and network development opportunities.
  • Key issues for potential developers.
